Summer is the perfect time for kids to go outside and explore, which is why we are hosting a Nature Play Day from 11am-3pm on Saturday, June 15.

Among the many Nature Play Day events occurring across Indiana from June 8-16, you can head over to our White River Gardens to meet some animals up close and participate in fun games and activities. Learn how to plant an eggshell herb garden, paint a leaf or a fish, or just explore our 3-plus acres of gorgeous outdoor gardens.

Some of our animals will also be joining in on the fun! Visit our Family Nature Center to find North America’s largest aquatic salamander – the eastern hellbender. You can also meet some of our reptiles during special chats near the conservatory exit and learn about what makes these animals unique.

While you’re at White River Gardens, take time to visit Butterfly Kaleidoscope presented by Citizens Energy Group. This spectacular seasonal exhibit dazzles you with the vivid colors of over 40 different species of butterfly and moth.

All Nature Play Day activities are free for Zoo Members and included with regular admission. The Zoo’s Nature Play Day is in partnership with Indiana Children & Nature Network, which encourages children to play outside 30 minutes a day to improve happiness and health.
