Brewing Up Fun For Everyone!

Indy’s favorite fall spooktacular is back and better than ever! ZooBoo brings magic and potions, trick-or-treating for kids and adults, fun twists on our rides and more for a ghoulishly good time. And with cooler temperatures, the animals are especially active. Costumes are encouraged! Kids 12 and under are permitted to wear masks or full face paint. 

ZooBoo is free with membership and included with regular admission.

Pumpkin Town & Leeward Manor

The Bicentennial Pavilion transforms into a magical night of Halloween funon the front stoop of Leeward Manorthe whimsical home of the Leeward Sisters, Terra, Wisp and Bubbles. These magical, silly-not-spooky sisters guide kids on an enchanted adventure, where their Aunt Clara Voyant uses her magic tree to reveal everyone’s “animal twin.”

  • Starting at 2pm music and lights will be reduced throughout the Zoo to create a more sensory friendly environment.
  • Free sensory bags available upon request at the Visitor’s Service Center (available daily as well).
  • Quiet rooms are available for guests.
  • Lights will remain on for the dolphin presentation, but the music/sound will be reduced.

Adopt a ZooBoo Kitten
In Partnership with IndyHumane

Two male kittens, Casper and Frankie, will be available for adoption. Stop by Pumpkin Town to meet our feline friends to see if you’re a match. Casper has a small white patch on his chest and is very social. Frankie is an observant curious kitten. Adoption application is coming soon! Kittens remain at the Zoo until the end of ZooBoo and then they are joined with their forever families.

  • Trick-or-Treat Trail Grab your treat bags and collect your goodies from eight treat stations in Plains. 
  • Roller Ghoster – Indianapolis’ only roller coaster with a fun, Halloween twist! Open until 7pm. 
  • Round-Go-Merry – The carousel that moves in reverse, presented by ITS Logistics. Open until 7pm. 
  • Spook-Tack-Ular Train Ride – Enjoy a ride for a special view of the Zoo behind the scenes presented by ITS Logisitics. Open until 7pm. 
  • Mirror Maze Find your way through the maze of reflections, presented by Meijer.
  • Pirates Bayou – Arrr! The shipwrecked Boney Scute Pirate crew are looking for new recruits. Try your luck in their pirate-themed games to test your skills. Will you join the crew or walk the plank? 
  • Adopt a kitten The Leeward sisters love to foster cats for IndyHumane. Come meet two purr-fect fur babies looking for a forever home. 

ZooBoo FAQs

When is ZooBoo open?

From Sept. 24 to Nov. 2, ZooBoo runs 2pm to close Wednesdays through Sundays, specifically 2-7pm Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and 2-9pm on Fridays and Saturdays. There is no ZooBoo on Mondays and Tuesdays. On Halloween (Oct. 31), all guests can enjoy 50% off admission. 

Is there trick-or-treating?

Absolutely! Kids can collect goodies at eight treat stations in Plains. Come in costume! Children 12 and under can wear their mask. Plains is decorated as a celebration of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). 

What is an “animal twin?”

During their enchanted adventure in Leeward Manor, kids are magically matched with one of seven animals most like them. They can also take home a plush version of their twin from the gift shop.

What is the Mirror Maze?

The Mirror Maze presented by Meijer, is a playful, not-too-tricky labyrinth full of twists and turns as part of Pumpkin Town. 

What food and drinks are available?

Each location has something different with our new seasonal menu items along the Foodie Trail presented by Red Gold, sip specialty coffees from Java House, or try Spooky ‘Shmallow flavored whiskey mixes, the Official Flavored Whiskey of ZooBoo. Enjoy local wine from Daniels Family Vineyard, Official Wine of ZooBoo. Swap, share and try it all. 

What are Sensory-Inclusive Days?

On Oct. 15 & Oct. 29:

  • Music will be at low levels (or turned off) throughout the Zoo.
  • Lights will remain on for the Dolphin presentation, and the music/sound will be reduced.
  • No voice amplifiers will be used as part of animal chats.
  • Quiet rooms will be available for guests.
  • Sensory stations will be available throughout the Zoo.
  • The Round-Go-Merry, presented by ITS Logistics, will run without lights and sound.
  • Sound will be turned down in the Shark/Ray area.
  • Gift shop will reduce the music volume.
  • Free sensory bags available upon request at the Visitor’s Service Center (available daily as well)
