Parking at the Indianapolis Zoo is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The Indianapolis Zoo is located at 1200 W. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46222 along the banks of the White River. Conveniently located less than a mile west of downtown in beautiful White River State Park, visitors can easily access the Zoo whether they’re coming by vehicle, on a bicycle or on foot.
Due to activity related to the NCAA Final Four weekend, West Washington Street at West Street will be closed from approximately 12:30pm to 3pm on Sunday, April 5. Guests arriving at the Zoo are encouraged to come from the west of the property, via eastbound Washington Street or White River Parkway North. We apologize for the inconvenience on this exceptionally busy weekend for the city. The south lot off Harding Street will not be open for overflow parking on this day.
Guests can charge their electric vehicles at one of two stations in the Zoo’s parking lot. Cars can be charged for a nominal fee for up to eight hours.
Electric cars are among the most effective ways to reduce carbon emissions. Beyond producing fewer greenhouse gases, other advantages of these vehicles include lower cost, maintenance and the trend to use recycled materials in production.
The Zoo is able to offer the recharging stations thanks to AES Indiana’s Electric Vehicle Charging Program.
