Indianapolis Zoo Awards Global Conservation Grants

The Indianapolis Zoo has continued its commitment to support conservation efforts around the globe. The Zoo has awarded $350,000 in grants to conservation projects around the world. The recipients are proven conservation organizations that are making an authentic difference in saving species worldwide and will continue their progress with this support from the Zoo.

As wild things and wild places face increasing challenges, the Zoo’s involvement and monetary support extends to species under threat of extinction, including African elephants, great apes, Amazon river dolphins, cheetahs, Indiana mayflies, tortoises and more.

“We believe in a world where nature thrives and are proud to support conservation projects that protect nature both internationally and here at home in Indiana,” said Bill Street, Senior Vice President of Conservation, Life Sciences and Education. “We are honored to lend support for conservation efforts that protect species and habitats for future generations.”

Grants are awarded based on science and research, measurable impact and projects that incorporate logical behavior change in areas where conflicts between people and wildlife exist. The Zoo has provided more than $1 million in grants to support conservation efforts in the past three years.
