Selene vomer
Lookdowns are large fish that live in shallow coastal areas along the western Atlantic Ocean. They look like shiny silver plates and form schools near the bottom of the sea. You might see lookdowns near bridges or other human structures, and young lookdowns hang out near beaches or estuaries.
Lookdowns have stable populations and face no major threats. Other marine species face threats from overfishing. You can help protect ocean wildlife by choosing sustainable seafood. The Seafood Watch program can teach you how!
