Emergency & Security Services

The security staff of the Indianapolis Zoo are trained as first responders for emergency medical situations. Should you have an emergency, please contact our security staff at the first aid station located near the Carousel or ask any staff member for help. In case of dangerous weather, the Zoo's indoor exhibit buildings are designated as safe areas.

Rentals

We offer rentals of strollers, wheelchairs and electric carts on a first-come, first-served basis. The rental counter is located across from the Oceans building in the Entry Plaza. Costs are:

• Strollers — $6.75 for a single, $9.75 for a double
• Wheelchairs — $6
• Electric carts — $25

To allow all guests easy access to our exhibits, stroller parking is located outside the Marsh Dolphin Theater, Encounters aviaries and Hilbert Conservatory. If you have any concerns about security for your stroller, you may wish to consider renting a Zoo stroller for your visit.

Services for People with Disabilities

The Indianapolis Zoo and White River Gardens are handicap accessible with wheelchair ramps located at all of our exhibits. Wheelchair seating is also available in the Marsh Dolphin Theater. Please check with a show attendant if you need assistance. Handicap parking is also available for both cars and vans. Service animals are welcome.

Nursing Moms Nest

The Nursing Moms Nest presented by Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health is one of the newer amenities at the Indianapolis Zoo. Tucked away in the Encounters Area, the Nursing Moms Nest offers a quiet place for moms to care for and breastfeed their babies in privacy.

This beautifully designed space includes three comfortable nursing rooms, a changing station and wash area, and an activity area where older children can sit and play while mom is breastfeeding nearby. The Nursing Moms Nest is one of only a few such facilities located at Indianapolis-area attractions and was a top priority for the Zoo when designing the Flights of Fancy exhibit.

Don't just take our word for it. Find out what a nursing mom said about the Nursing Moms Nest in her blog.
