Where are we located?

The Indianapolis Zoo is located at 1200 W. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46222 along the banks of the White River. Conveniently located less than a mile west of downtown in beautiful White River State Park, visitors can easily access the Zoo whether they’re coming by vehicle, on a bicycle or on foot.

Parking

Parking at the Indianapolis Zoo is available on a first-come, first-served basis. On busy days, additional parking may be available at the Zoo’s new south lot off Harding Street with shuttle service to the entrance of the Zoo. During Christmas at the Zoo, to ease the traffic backup, you may be directed to the South Lot and ride a free shuttle to the Zoo.

We recommend that guests stow items out of sight and lock vehicles at all times. The Zoo is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Find additional parking

On busy days during ZooBoo and Christmas at the Zoo, overflow parking is available south of Washington Street on Oliver Avenue. When the lot is open, there will be lighted signs along Washington Street to direct you to the overflow parking lot. The lot has an additional 1,200 lighted parking spaces, and shuttle service will be provided to the Zoo and back. Shuttles will run from 1-10pm on Fridays and Saturdays, 1-8pm on Sundays.

Charging Stations

Guests can charge their electric vehicles at one of two stations in the Zoo’s parking lot. Cars can be charged for a nominal fee for up to eight hours.

Electric cars are among the most effective ways to reduce carbon emissions. Beyond producing fewer greenhouse gases, other advantages of these vehicles include lower cost, maintenance and the trend to use recycled materials in production.

The Zoo is able to offer the recharging stations thanks to AES Indiana’s Electric Vehicle Charging Program.
