Identifying and proposing KBAs / Relevance of the IUCN Red List on the KBA identification process: Mozambique example

Key Biodiversity Areas are identified nationally, using local experts. In many countries the process is coordinated by a KBA National Coordination Group (KBA NCG) which is typically formed from members of government, the conservation community and scientific community. Mozambique established its KBA NCG in 2019 and this presentation will show how the presence of such a group has not only allowed the identification of KBAs but also moved them quickly into national spatial plans and guidance for the private sector.
