ZooBoo presented by Central Indiana Honda Dealers

Explore ZooBoo after dark with extended dates, now including Wednesdays

Is regular October too humdrum, but haunted houses too creepy-crawly? Come to the Zoo for super-duper Halloween activities, amazing animals and pumpkins galore! ZooBoo is always a fun family experience for itty-bitty ghouls and goblins, as well as the bigger kids. October weather means active animals, colorful foliage and a new season to explore. Combine that with engaging activities, spooktacular costumes and trick-or-treating — plus, the chance to boogie-woogie to a live DJ — and you’ve got an unforgettable family tradition. Woo-hoo!

ZooBoo is free for Zoo members and included with regular admission. A timed ticket is required for entry and available to purchase here.

Pumpkin Town

The Bicentennial Pavilion is home to a whimsical village with adorable cats, fancy rats, and Mayor Jack who loves to keep guests on their toes with his boo-worthy jokes! NEW in 2020, little witches and goblins can engage in mystifying science demonstrations lead by Professor Pumpkin at Pumpkin School. Guests can also visit not-so-scary animals in Jack’s Barn presented by State Farm or the cats being fostered in Bewitching Bites. Through the Zoo’s partnership with Indianapolis Animal Care Services, guests can learn about adopting these adorable animals after Halloween. And, don’t forget to explore Pumpkin Town’s best carnivorous plant, hat, and magic wand collections! Plus, the dance party is always going with Halloween hits from Patch Radio!

Costume masks for children under age 12 are allowed but require an additional face covering if there is an opening around the nose or mouth. And for the safety of all guests, full-face makeup or costume masks are only allowed for children ages 12 and under.

Need an adults-only Halloween evening?

Halloween isn’t just for the little ones. Brewfari is a new event that offers an evening of craft beers, costumes, music and more!

Zoo Animals

Mild fall temperatures mean animals will be more active!

Watch as many animals enjoy Halloween-themed enrichment and extra animal chats throughout the event. View the ZooBoo map for the full schedule.

The elephant herd gets into the Halloween spirit with the squash-splattering fun of the Elephant Pumpkin Smash! Visit the Ascension St. Vincent Dolphin Gallery where you can Meet a Sloth. Plus, stop by Pumpkin School to help create paper webs to dress up our aviaries and provide hours of fun for our birds.

  • Arrive early to visit your favorite furry friends before ZooBoo activities begin at 2pm.
  • With ZooBoo open late on Fridays and Saturdays, you can also visit Oceans, Dolphin Pavilion, Deserts Dome and Simon Skjodt International Orangutan Center until 9pm on those nights.
  • Our Forests, Flights of Fancy and Plains exhibits will remain open until dusk.
