The Costa Rica trip will begin on the country’s Caribbean coast, an important nesting site for green sea turtles, then continue to the lowland tropical rainforests of the Sarapiquí region. Next, ascend to the temperate forests and volcanic landscapes around Arenal Volcano before capping off your experience in the cloud forests around Monteverde. Along the way, you’ll have numerous opportunities to learn about conservation initiatives and daily life in Costa Rica. Assist with sea turtle research, attend a talk by a local biologist, learn about agricultural practices and try your hand at making tortillas, and meet with descendants of the Quaker settlers who laid the groundwork for the Monteverde Biological Reserve.
