Our Safety & Security Officers work to provide a safe, secure environment for our guests, employees, and our collection. Seasonal Security Officers work from April through September, approximately 40 hours per week, and are primarily responsible for patrolling our parking lots, and handling school bus and special event parking.
This position pays $10.50 per hour. Business demands require availability to work some evenings, as well as week-ends and holidays. Please apply by the March 10, 2018 deadline.
All Officers interact with Zoo employees, volunteers and guests, which requires excellent verbal communication skills. Past work experience in security, law enforcement, military or extensive customer service experience is preferred, but not required. Your application will be considered provided that you meet these qualifications:
Three years of professional work experience in a related field;
18 years of age minimum;
A high school diploma/TASC/high school equivalency
Possess a valid Indiana driver’s license with an acceptable driving record that is deemed insurable by the Zoo’s insurer;
Officer positions are physically demanding jobs, and successful candidates must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, and regularly lift up to 50 pounds. Good visual acuity and hearing is required. Will generally work outside, with exposure to all kinds of weather/environmental conditions.
Fluency in the English language is required. Verbal skills in other languages a plus.
