ABout Cabot’s Tragopan

TO ATTRACT A FEMALE DURING COURTSHIP, THE MALE FLASHES HIS COLORFUL WING LININGS AND INFLATES THE BRIGHT-COLORED WATTLES ON HIS HEAD AND THROAT.

These birds can be identified by their bright orange and black face along with their speckled black, red and white bodies. The Cabot’s Tragopan can grow to be about 2 feet in length and live 15 to 18 years. Native to the Evergreen forests in China these birds are listed as vulnerable.
