This spectacular event happens every other year as the world turns its attention to the Circle City for the celebration of the Indianapolis Prize, the world's leading award for animal conservation.

This family-friendly event teaches visitors how everyone can help save wild animals by helping save the environment. Plus, this fun, informal gathering offers great opportunities for both children and adults to interact with world-renowned scientists and researchers who are helping save wild things and wild places.

During the 2014 event, guests met Indianapolis Prize winner Dr. Patricia Wright, the other Prize finalists, plus award-winning actress and conservationist Jane Alexander. These stars of animal conservation spent time chatting and signing autographs for visitors, plus younger guests enjoyed other fun games and activities.

Meet a Hero is just one of the many public events that take place as part of the biennial celebration of the Indianapolis Prize. The Indianapolis Zoo initiated the Prize as a significant component of its mission to empower people and communities, both locally and globally, to advance animal conservation.

This award brings the world's attention to the cause of animal conservation and the brave, talented and dedicated men and women who spend their lives saving the Earth's endangered animal species.
