Ring-Tailed Lemur

Ring-tailed lemurs are one of the most recognizable animal species in our collection due to their black-and-white striped tails, but their native habitat in Madagascar is rapidly diminishing.
The sparse dry forests they prefer are being converted into farmland, overgrazed by livestock, and harvested for charcoal production. They are also hunted for food in certain areas of their range and kept as pets. Your support of the Ring-tailed lemur and the Animal Amigo program demonstrates your commitment to preserving all threatened and endangered species and the fulfillment of the Indianapolis Zoo’s mission of advancing animal conservation.
With your donation of $50 or more to the Animal Amigo program, you will receive the following benefits:
• Limited edition 7” Ring-tailed Lemur Plush Clinger
• Animal Amigo Certificate of Thanks
• Ring-tailed Lemur photo
• Ring-tailed Lemur fact sheet
• Animal Amigo window cling
• Recognition on our Animal Amigo Donor Board and in the Indianapolis Zoo Annual Report*
The Animal Amigo program helps to underwrite the care of our ring-tailed lemurs and all of the animals at the Zoo by funding food, medical treatment, equipment, enrichment toys, and habitat improvement.
