What's Blooming Now - June 30, 2010
It is not too late for the daylily fans out there. Although several varieties have finished blooming, others are just beginning their bloom cycle. Visit White River Gardens to see some uniquely colored varieties such as Hemerocallis ‘Bonanza’ or Hemerocallis ‘Frans Hals’. Stop by the Indianapolis Garden Club’s Heritage Garden and see an old fashioned yellow variety called Hemerocallis ‘Hyperion’, developed right here in Indiana.
It is a great time to see the garden phlox in bloom as well. In the Heritage Garden you will see both “Amethyst” and “David”. Travel along the Ornamental Allee and see the brightly colored ‘Miss Mary’.
The combination of hot weather and sufficient rain has created quite the show this year in the Gardens, despite our resident hungry bunnies! Be sure to stop by and visit the Gardens during the summer, when everything is in full seasonal bloom. Don't miss the informational Gardener's Notes tucked among the beds and get inspired by the variety of garden design concepts you can study around every corner!
