Naturally Inspired Paint Out
presented by The Great Frame Up
Calling all artists: Apply to be one of our featured artists for 2014!
Thanks to the support of the many talented artists and wonderful Zoo
patrons, the 2013 Naturally Inspired Art Show and Silent Auction were a
huge success! More than 200 people attended this year's auction and helped
raise more than $7,500 to benefit animals and programs at the Indianapolis
Zoo! If you would like to be a featured artist for the 2014
Naturally Inspired Paint Out, please fill out our
application form and submit it by March 3.
Naturally Inspired Paint Out presented by
The Great Frame Up
of Indianapolis gives you the unique opportunity to see the
works of a penguin Picasso, a walrus Warhol, an elephant Escher and many
others. Past shows have featured works by some of Indianapolis' most
talented human artists as well as some of our artistically inclined animals.
spring, the Zoo invites a group of 15 juried artists to make art
“en plein air” (outdoors) at Naturally Inspired Paint Out Day. During this unique
event, guests have a special opportunity to observe the artists as
they turn a blank canvas or a
of clay into a truly extraordinary work of art inspired by the natural world.
After the paintings have dried and been professionally framed by
The Great Frame Up, they will be displayed for
the summer in the Schaefer Rotunda at
River Gardens. Then you are invited to attend a silent auction
and artists' reception in the Hulman Riverhouse
at the Gardens. Bid on your favorite work of
art or just enjoy the show! One of the 15 talented artists will
be awarded the Members Choice award. In 2013, Marie Stonestreet won for her
portrait titled "Beauty in Courage." You’ll also get to mingle with
artists and other Zoo patrons, get after-hours access to the
Hilbert Conservatory, with its beautiful views of downtown
Indianapolis, and savor light hors d’oeuvres and wine.
Reservations are required for the reception and silent auction, so call
our Membership office at 317-630-2046 to RSVP.
